The two core philosophies at our core are:

1. Triple Bottom Line Social Entrepreneurship - Triple Bottom Line is a phase first coined by John Elkington in his 1997 book "Cannibals With Forks".  This theory summarized means that a business will be measured on economic/financial, environmental and social justice criteria, not on economic/financial alone.  To be in business, you must sell a product or service for more than its cost to produce or deliver.  Soul-Centered Enterprises looks at the details of the cost of production from a socially-responsible lens or point of view.  We also call this being "intrinsically socially responsible" because the creation of the product or service was done responsibly.

Here is a clip for a 2008 DVD on this topic from authors I know and trust:

2. Applied Social Justice - Soul-Centered Enterprises in interested in developing products and services that are "extrinsically socially responsible" in that the product or service improves the quality of life of the user.  A gun may be produced from green materials and in a well-run factory environement where employees are valued and treated well, but the produce was designed to shoot a bullet, potentially decreasing the quality of life of an individual at the other end.

Wired through both philosophies, Soul-Centered Enterprises hopes to achieve Social Justice.  As defined by the US Conference of Catholic Bishops, the seven key themes of Social Justice are:

            a. Life and Dignity of the Human Person

            b. Call to family, Community, and Participation

            c. Rights and Responsibilities

            d. Option for the Poor and Vulnerable

            e. The Dignity of Work and the Rights of Workers

            f. Solidarity

           g. Care for God's Creation
